A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary by Melissa Peterman

A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary by Melissa Peterman
A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary
It's another Wednesday in July. It was a sunny morning, the paper boy delivered the Wednesday paper, you fed the cat and checked your email. Something was definitely different. The paper is on the kitchen counter for you, instead of the front porch. There are ads like usual from the paper, but they are neatly laid next to your breakfast. Your wife made you coffee, bought you special doughnuts from you're favorite doughnut shop on the corner, your new shirt was ironed and hung on the door of the bathroom and your wife even polished your wedding band for you. Whoa! You stop yourself short, why did she polish your wedding band today? What is today? You look at the Wednesday paper, it's the 24th of July, what date is that you think... Oh it's your wedding day! And those ads are not for a lube oil filter- it's for jewelry! A gold diamond journey pendant, a silver journey pendantand a circle diamond pendant on sale. No wonder your wife has been going out of her way to make your day so special, it's your five year wedding anniversary and she left you a huge hint.
What are you going to do? You haven't ordered flowers, bought her anything special or even a card. How do you think you might let her know that you love her and that you would do anything for her and that you didn't forget? You decide that it's not too late to get her something special.
You leave the house after wishing your wife a happy anniversary and tell her to have a great day and not to plan anything for the evening! You leave work early and drive to your local jewelry store.
The woman behind the counter lets you know about the latest designs that are available in the styles you are looking for. You tell her you are looking for a diamond journey pendant, a gold journey pendant or a small diamond pendant for your wife for your five year wedding anniversary. The woman behind the counter is wearing a name tag that says, Gloria, "Specializing in Anniversaries." Perfect, you think. Gloria says, "If you are looking for a diamond pendant for your five year anniversary, let me suggest the diamond journey pendant, with five diamonds increasing in size, making an "S" shape, representing the five years you have been together and with each diamond increasing in size, so too does your love for her."
The necklace was very beautiful and it was true, you did love her more and more as the years went by. What about the other necklaces? You ask Gloria about the diamond pendant on display. "This is a lovely diamond pendant with five half carat diamonds set in a gold in the shape of a heart is a lovely choice," Gloria said. "She will feel like she is walking the red carpet- don't you think?" It was gorgeous. You think about tonight and what your wife will say when she opens the small velvety box with the necklace inside. You decide that she would like the journey pendant. Choosing either the silver or gold diamond journey pendant was a tough decision. She wore more silver than gold, but you liked the value that gold represents. You decide to get the gold diamond journey pendant. Gloria thought it was a great choice as she placed it in a black velvety box and wrapped it in a red box with a silver bow. That evening at dinner, after you have already had your steak and lobster at your wife's favorite restaurant, a waiter comes over to ask you for your dessert selections. When he returns with your chocolate dipped strawberries, three waiters arrive, one with champagne, one with the chocolate covered strawberries and one delivering the red-wrapped velvety box with the gold diamond journey pendant. Your wife was so surprised! The look on her face was unforgettable. Sure she was surprised but possibly even more so that you didn't forget your five year wedding anniversary. You help fasten the necklace around her neck, "This gold diamond journey necklace looks familiar," she says as she smiles, "I love it."
