Women and Their Different Hats by MaryLu
When it comes to putting on the finishing touches of an outfit, many women rely on hats as unique additions to their wardrobe. Hats come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, allowing a woman to completely match her outfits, make a statement, or express her individuality. Today, the market is saturated with a never-ending array of hat selections made for every conceivable occasion with more character and flair than one can imagine. While some women find any excuse to don the perfect hat, below you will find some of the most common opportunities for hat wearing.
Kentucky Derby
The bevy of hats that appear at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby is just as exciting as the horses that take into flight for the race. While not everyone can afford to make the trip to the festivities, you may still enjoy your own slice of Win, Place, and Show when you host a Kentucky Derby party, where all of your friends compete to see who possesses the best hat for the day. At Churchill Downs, a few winners have included boa brims and feather bases, plastic horses on the brim, and a collection of fresh flowers.
Church
Wearing a fancy hat to religious services is quite a common practice. For some cultures, the wearing of a hat to church is part of a deep-seeded tradition, known as a significant aspect within numerous religious communities. There are some women who possess hundreds of hats for church - neatly stored in hatboxes that take up entire shelves, closets, and attics.
Easter
While young girls with dainty dresses may adorn a hat for Easter, women of all ages are known to purchase a special selection for their church services or for the local Easter parade in town. There are plenty of interesting avenues to consider when choosing just the right hat. Lavender, pink, and yellow are common colors, as well as pastel-colored blooms for decoration. Some women even take the opportunity to make some use out of the extra Easter eggs they have laying around the house.
Wedding Reception
Hats are commonly worn at wedding receptions, especially when they take place in the great outdoors. With warm weather and blinding rays of sunshine - the hat not only serves a decorative purpose, but also a functional one. It is also not uncommon to see a few brides wear hats as part of their wedding ensemble in carefully chosen selections that match their dress. An example of this includes a top hat with veil trailing behind from the brim.
Sunbathing in Style
When attending a beach party or just loafing in the sun, a hat not only helps keep the sun out of your face, but also makes a brilliant statement. With fascinating possibilities at every bend, you can find the perfect match for your bikini or sarong in no time.
Tea Time
There are some women who host tea parties, where they get together over a steaming cup of brew to showcase their latest addition to a hat collection. You may also plan an all-out party for close friends, where guests come dressed to impress, offering a treat for the event, such as biscuits, cookies, or muffins.

Blessing of Baptism for parents and baby by Elizabeth Ellis

Blessing of Baptism for parents and baby by Elizabeth Ellis
When babies' smile in their sleep, people say that they are talking or looking at angels. But we can never refrain ourselves from smiling when looking at the bundle of joy. Babies are most adorable. In fact there is nothing more adorable than babies. Their features can soften the hardest hearts. It's not usual to see the grumpiest person in the family acting completely the opposite way when holding the baby. Therefore, having newborn babies are one of the most memorable events in a family.
Baptism is a sacrament of admission to the Christian Church. When a child is born, he is believed to have carried the sins of Adam and Eve. After eating the forbidden fruit, the sin was then carried by the following generations. When the infant is baptized, he will automatically become a member of the church where he was baptized.
Westerner's believe that baptism should be celebrated amongst family and friends. So, a reception would usually be held. It is quiet similar to a wedding shower. The baby would be presented with lots of gifts and the parents would give the guests favors as token of appreciation. New mothers would most appreciate the gifts and advice as it would relief them off their burden. The experienced members of the family would give their advice to the new mother to make sure that she can get all the help she needs.
Famous throughout the world, baby clothes would be the first item that a mother would receive. It is mostly wrapped and packed in a transparent box. Available mostly in pink for girls and blue for boys, it contains shirts, bodysuits, stockings, mittens and caps all made from the softest cotton around. In oriental culture, these pieces of clothing are snug inside a dim sum platter to give it a whole new look. Another popular trend is to wrap these clothes into flowers and roses. A bouquet of these creative and clever ideas would surely make a huge hit during the reception as the parents experience surprise and delight at the same time.
Babies can be given bottles and baby formulas as presents. The gift would benefit mothers who cannot produce their own milk. However, do not attempt to buy any cheap formulas you can get you hands on. Babies could be allergic to some formulas so before you set out to buy one, get an opinion from someone who knows more about them. Don't be put off if you see that your gift was not made used of by the parents. When giving birthday presents, try assembling gifts in a basket. They would certainly delight the happy parents.
Momentos given to guests is called favors. They are famous in the west. Nonetheless, this culture has spread to other parts of the world and it is no longer some alien customs. These favors act as gestures of gratitude from the parents of the baby. Wonder what make best favors for baptism? As babies are often related to angels, something that carries this design would be the best form of souvenirs. A cherub candle would be the finest choice because it is both admirable and useful at the same time. It will give a warm radiance in anybody's home.
Get the favors personalized because nothing would be more appreciated by guests than personalized favors. One thing about them is that they show the parent's sincerity and appreciation. A baby photo ornament with potpourri would make a lasting impressions on the guests. Babies bring joy and delight into a family. You must enjoy this moment for as long as it last. There is no need for you to think way into the future yet. The mess, mischief and wreckage that your child might bring are still a long way in the future.

Wedding Traditions by Michael Kabel

Wedding Traditions by Michael Kabel
"I need to get my wife some leather," my friend told me. "Whatever keeps the marriage going," I said."No, stupid." He showed me the chart. "It's our third anniversary."I read down the table. The third anniversary gift was leather. A second column said crystal or china was also appropriate. "How about some new china plates?" I said. "Or new glasses? That seems more... I don't know. Gift-like?""She's traditional," my friend said. "She'd want the leather."
Many wedding anniversaries, by tradition and modern design alike, carry themed gifts that spouses can exchange with one another. Most people realize the fiftieth wedding anniversary is celebrated with gifts of gold, and the 25th with gifts of silver. But there are many more customary gift symbols, especially in the early years of marriage. Celebrating the Symbols
The symbols were designed as a means of rewarding long-running marriages. In the traditional scale, the price and value of the goods gradually escalates, culminating in the diamond on the 60th Anniversary. In fact, the tradition of giving diamonds started when Queen Victoria of England celebrated the sixtieth year of her rule in 1897. Her "diamond jubilee" drew well-wishers from around the world and jump-started the diamond gift market.
Modern anniversary symbols are more skewed to current standards of wealth. (The diamond comes on the tenth anniversary - quite a leap up!) and practicality.
Matching the Right Gift to Its Symbol
As you plan your anniversary gift, the symbols should be used as a guideline. For example, leather gifts for the second or ninth anniversary might include wallets, purses, a new coat, or any other leather accessories. The fourth year gift of electrical appliances could be interpreted to include a wide-screen television.
The gifts you give for an anniversary should be fun, and of course they should also be as affectionate as you like. There's no mention of price related to these symbols, either. (A "paper" gift on the first anniversary could be two paper tickets to the Super Bowl.)
So here's the list of symbols, drawn from a variety of online sources. The traditional gifts are taken from American custom - British customs vary slightly.
The First Ten Years1st - Paper (Traditional) or Clocks (Modern)2nd - Cotton (Traditional) or China (Modern)3rd - Leather (Traditional) or Crystal & glass (Modern)4th - Fruit & flowers (Traditional) or Electrical appliances (Modern)5th - Wood (Traditional) or Silverware (Modern)6th - Candy or iron (Traditional) or Wood (Modern)7th - Wool & copper (Traditional) or Desk sets (Modern)8th - Bronze & pottery (Traditional) or Linens & lace (Modern)9th - Pottery & willow (Traditional) or Leather (Modern)10th - Tin or aluminum (Traditional) or Diamond jewelry (Modern)Years 11 - 20 11th - Steel (Traditional) or Fashion jewelry (Modern)12th - Silk & linen (Traditional) or Pearls or colored gems (Modern)13th - Lace (Traditional) or Textiles or furs (Modern)14th - Ivory (Traditional) or Gold jewelry (Modern)15th - Crystal (Traditional) or Watches (Modern)20th - China (Traditional) or Platinum (Modern)Later Years 25th - Silver (Traditional) or Silver (Modern) 30th - Pearl (Traditional) or Diamond (Modern) 35th - Coral (Traditional) or Jade (Modern) 40th - Ruby (Traditional) or Ruby (Modern) 45th - Sapphire (Traditional) or Sapphire (Modern) 50th - Gold (Traditional) or Gold (Modern) 55th - Emerald (Traditional) or Emerald (Modern) 60th - Diamond (Traditional) or Diamond (Modern) 75th - Diamond (Traditional) or Diamond (Modern) 90th - Granite (Traditional) or Granite (Modern)Be sure to visit My Wedding Favors for the perfect gift giving ideas that will accomodate even the most demanding of traditions and keep this guide as your reference for many years to come.

Spending Less and Getting More for Your Wedding by William Brister

Spending Less and Getting More for Your Wedding by William Brister
Weddings can be costly and thus budgeting for the occasion is important. There is no need for unnecessary cost cutting, but planning wisely will help you to stay within your means. After all, it is your Big Day and you want everything to be perfect.
Avoid unnecessary travel expenses by choosing local wedding services and suppliers. Saturday is one of the most expensive days to have weddings. Choose a Sunday or a weekday and you might even avail of some discounts from the photographer, video-grapher and hotels. If you do not want a traditional wedding meal, which can prove to be quite costly, have the wedding later in the day followed by a buffet or a barbeque in the summer. You could even have an early wedding with a cocktail reception for the guests and then leave for a quiet meal with close friends and family. Choose Pimms or Sangria as the welcoming drink and a good sparkling wine instead of Champagne for the toast. Provide a sufficient number of canapés or appetizers as a first course, or if its winter, serve a wholesome hot soup. The wedding cake or assorted cakes can serve as dessert as well. You can negotiate with the caterer to give you reduced rates on the food. Order one meal between two to reduce costs as well as eliminate wastage. Pedestal floral arrangements instead of individual table flowers at the reception might work out cheaper. Floating candles in beautiful glass bowls make an elegant alternative to flower arrangements on tables. If it is a church wedding, you could share the cost of the flowers with other couples getting married on the day. Sprinkle glitter or rose petals to decorate your tables. Use the table decoration as gifts for your guests. The flowers on the table could be made into smaller sprays and given to the women. If your reception venue caters for more than one wedding on your day, consider sharing the evening's entertainment with the other wedding parties to enable you to book something quite expensive and share the cost. Consider having a double wedding with a relative. It will help to bring down costs. Cocktail and evening dresses can be a classy alternative to wedding gowns and can even be worn again at later occasions. If you have adults as bridesmaids, make them your attendants. This way they buy their own outfits and all you have to do is buy them their matching bouquets. Tiaras and other such accessories can be borrowed from a close friend or relative. Hire all the menswear outfits from one supplier to avail of discounts. Keep the guests list to a minimum; there is no need to invite partners of work friends if you do not know them too well. Avoid calling children of family and friends. Ask family members or friends to contribute to the wedding cost and treat that as your wedding gift. Buy your wedding rings from the same supplier as your engagement ring and jeweller. He is likely to do all alterations or engraving for free. Choose one salon or beauty treatment parlor and make a group booking for some of your close friends and relatives. You might benefit from group discounts. Start collecting miles for your honeymoon. You are likely to get an upgrade and some preferential treatment from both, airlines and the hotel if you say you are just married and on your honeymoon.

Victorian Jewelry by Barbara Adams

Victorian Jewelry by Barbara Adams
Many people find it hard to believe that the inception of jewelry occurred 100,000 years ago as evidenced by mollusk jewelry found in South Africa. Mollusks are small snails and clams, and their shells were used to fashion this jewelry, although it was no doubt for more functional purposes (such as holding a garment together) than it was for adorning people. In the earliest days, natural material was used, such as animal teeth, shells, bone, wood and stone.
The first period during which jewelry was used extensively to adorn people was the Georgian era beginning in the 1760's. Larger size jewelry from the past was replaced by delicate smaller forms. It is very difficult to locate jewelry from this period, but jewelry from the Victorian period beginning in the mid 1800's under the reign of Queen Victoria is a different story. The Victorian era ended in 1901 upon the death of the Queen.
The young Queen, who was crowned at eighteen, not only loved jewelry, but also designed it. In favor were cameos carved of conch shells by Italians. Women were known to travel to Italy to purchase necklaces, earrings, and brooches of cameo designs, and lava jewelry made from colored lava of Mt. Vesuvius. Soon the industrial revolution saw the manufacture of jewelry, and resulted in the end of the hand carving.
The Queen also got credit for the charm bracelet, and had a number of charms designed. She often gave jewelry as gifts to family and friends. Jewelry had been a status symbol of the wealthy, or to accompany fashionable outfits, but the emergence of the middle class created a demand for a larger quantities being produced. Queen Victoria continued to set the trend for other women, and her romantic nature as well as nature itself were reflected in jewelry designed with birds, hearts, butterflies, dragonflies, gemstone embellished flowers, ribbons, and bows. Jewelry containing the hair of both the living and dead was especially popular. Some of these pieces were very intricate in their design. Lockets were also used to hold the hair or pictures of the deceased.
Victoria also preferred serpent designs, a symbol of eternal love, and her engagement ring from Prince Albert in 1840 was a serpent designed with an emerald in its head. Terms of endearment such as "dearest" or "regard" often appeared on engagement rings. A brooch of sapphires and diamonds, a gift from her husband-to-be, adorned her wedding dress. The Queen also favored opals, but other affordable semi-precious stones appealed to the mass market such as amethyst, coral, pearls, turquoise and garnet. Ivory, seed pearls, bog oak, smoky quartz, jasper, agate, enamel, ,petrified wood, marble, as well as gold and silver found in Scottish jewelry were also popular with the public, as tartan plaids became fashionable after the Queen's children started wearing them.
New finds of gold resulted in creating different methods of gold processing, and gold jewelry became more affordable. Diamonds, because of South Africa diamond mines opening, were also becoming within the reach of the middle class. In 1861, Victoria's husband Prince Albert died, and so-called mourning jewelry made of black stones such as onyx, jet and black enamel were in vogue. They were commonly worn by relatives of the deceased. Jet was carved into necklaces, earrings, and pins. The suffragette movement was beginning and the black jewelry continued to be fashionable. Sets of jewelry were introduced during this period.
Today Victorian jewelry can be found in antique shops and at estate sales. Some reproductions of the jewelry are also sold as Victorian jewelry still has an allure for the public.

How To Plan A Wedding On A Shoe String Budget by Carla Lendor

How To Plan A Wedding On A Shoe String Budget by Carla Lendor
When you are planning your wedding and finance in an issue, it is still possible to have a classy and beautiful wedding. When you plan a wedding on a tight budget you first have to start with checklist of the activities that are important for the success of your wedding.
When finance is an issue it means that you will have to perform a lot of the activities that your wedding coordinator would have performed. Rather than paying professional service providers such as caterers, photographers, entertainers and florists you can seek the help of your family and friends.
You can save money by baking your own cakes, making you own wedding favors. You can save by printing your own invitations and making your own bouquet using flowers from your garden and decorating your wedding venues. Simple centerpieces with flowers and simple decorative pieces can look rather chic.
One of the things that contribute to wedding cost is invitees. You may want to narrow your list to your family and closest friends.
Dinners may increase your cost so you may prefer to have a brunch or luncheon at small but classy restaurant. Rather than ordering or buying your wedding dress and suits you may opt to have it made by your local seamstress and tailor.
Before you select a venue you may want to shop around do some negotiating and bargaining with the owners. You can also consider having your wedding on the beach.
Planning a wedding on a tight budget does not mean that you have to try to try and squeeze on every penny. It simply means doing away with the things that are not necessary. When you are on a tight budget you do not have to sacrifice all your fantasies. A string budget simply requires that you do plan very carefully and efficiently. As with any budget, you must make allocation for sudden changes in the price of items.
When you have lesser money you can arrange everything with that less money. You can save money in each and every activity in your wedding. You can always use the wedding elements like food, dress, decoration, reception, and guests etc. to plan a wedding on tight budget.
To plan a wedding on a tight budget, you have to decide what are the things you need and what you do not. You should pay for the things that are to be paid for. First of all decide what you want. See and find out elements that can be cut from the wedding checklist. Reduced events will reduce cost.
You will need many professional services for your wedding like photographer, decorators, florists, wedding coordinator etc. See whether anyone of your friends or your relatives is offering such services. If you find one, then you can talk to him instead of hiring a professional who will charge more. Sometimes your friends who are into such businesses may even not take a penny from you for offering you their service.
You too yourself can do some of the works that your wedding coordinator will do. When you do them, you save a lot of money. Your friends and family members can really help you here. You can try to do a few things like preparing the invitations or preparing the wedding cake etc. You can also try decorating the venue, making invitee list etc. If your efforts work out then fine, if not then ask for help from an expert. By asking an expert, you can save money because you are not hiring a professional for doing your work.
You can also save on your decoration. Go for minimum decoration and avoid excessive use of decorating pieces. Use of colors and fresh flowers can make your decoration and arrangement a success. Simple decorative pieces can make your venue look good.

And if you don't look good... then you'd better start working at it, if not for your sake then for his, he won't say it but being healthy and in shape always looks and feels better.
This dress must highlight your good points and cover your not so desirable points (that includes your favorite snake tattoo on your back! Get it covered or better yet removed; tattoos do not match a wedding dress - or a classy woman).
Walking in Your Dress
You must be able to walk in it without lifting the front. On your wedding day one arm will be placed in your fathers (or whoever is leading your down the aisle), and the other will be holding a small bouquet thus you have to have a dress you can walk in naturally. Practice walking in it -- Holding up your dress with one hand is not an option.
The Veil
You must "BUY" a wedding VEIL to cover your face and shoulders for the walk down the aisle. Wedding planners will tell you the veil is a choice, they're wrong! It's not an option! You MUST be decked out in a veil, it's your role to play, you are the centerpiece of mystery for all to look at and wonder. Is she happy -- Is she sad, -- Is she scared... what does she look like?!!! The mysterious and beautiful VEIL hiding your face from the world until your groom frees you!
Get the right size! Smaller is better, just the opposite of what every magazine will tell you. It must be an above the elbow length veil. Practice lifting your hand up to shoulder level to make sure your hand actually sticks out from the veil for the ring, a picture perfect ring exchange with your exotic mysterious veil still covering your face, keeping everyone in suspense for the "unveiling" at the end of the ceremony, the climax of the whole event! The groom lifts the veil and there is his dream girl, which he is willing to die for! And he kisses her, thus sealing this most holy of all promises! And the crowd erupts in applause, shouting and whistling!
Brides Hair
This is your moment! Think "Ballerina" the classy hair pulled up -- showing off your face and shoulders type of look, a timeless beauty for all generations looking back on your wedding photos to admire.
Your hair must be done up professionally on your wedding day, not cut, no haircuts or trims on the wedding day itself, or you end up with little pieces of hair all over your dress and face. You can add hair pieces in the back, as if your hair was 3 feet long and needed to be wrapped up on top of your head if you want, this is fun and acceptable, you can have professional highlights and even curl stray strands that might fall out of your pulled up hair, this looks great as well. Have a great time with your hair, just remember it has to be completely out of your face, with no bangs on your wedding day, other than that - Have fun! (Only natural colors)
Jewelry
All jewelry on a wedding day distracts the audience from your face, that's why old ladies need jewelry and young beautiful girls do not. However if you must have a Tiara, the classiest choice is a natural miniature Ivy-vine tiara -- with a couple small white flowers woven in (usually "babies breath" is used). Contact your local florist and they will have one ready for you in no time and its basically free! This is natural and beautiful and adds to your beauty, not distracts from it. This is the best choice for a tiara! You won't need earrings or a necklace, and all the attention will be on you - as a timeless natural beauty! Along with this make sure your bouquet has lots of the same green ivy and your grooms lapel flower needs to be mostly the same matching green ivy with your tiara so have the same florist do all 3 creations for you.
Eyebrows
Get them plucked and shaped by a professional. Your man might look great with wild eyebrows, but you do not! Especially for you brides with one connected eyebrow, get it plucked and separated immediately. You should have dainty thin, little rainbow shaped eyebrows in 2007 and for the rest of your life. Go with a brown color even if your hair is black or blonde. If you have time, get an eyebrow tattoo by a professional and you will always look good even right out of the shower, which is important -- now that your getting married!
Fake eyelashes are out! No chance, don't even think about it. They will get caught in the veil every time! And then one will rip off and the other will be stuck to the veil! It's a disaster waiting to happen -- You don't want to go there - ever for the rest of your life if your groom is lucky.
Skin
Get it cleaned up! If you have to start visiting a skin doctor 6 months before -- then do it! But try to have perfect, pimple free skin on your wedding day. Do what you have too, but get nice skin for this day, and hopefully for the rest of your life. Today, skin clinics can remove almost any blemish if you give them enough time.
Then stay clean and smell like soap and his favorite perfume at all times for the rest of your life together. Smells are very important, stay beautiful to him with clean fresh smells everyday (everywhere - wink). Wedding days and honeymoons especially, so where deodorant, and a light touch of perfume on your rosy, smooth unblemished skin! (2 or 3 tanning sessions the week before your wedding also helps)
Body Hair
Remove it all professional if you have time! Hair on your body is nothing but dirty, it has no advantages for you only disadvantages, smelling better is just one of the many benefits of having no body hair.
If you don't have the time or money to get the hair on your body removed by laser then just use a razor for your legs and armpits until you do. Do not shave your genital area before your honeymoon! You can have it removed by laser so its permanently perfect but if you use a razor it will grow back and the stubble can rip the skin right off your man's chin-chin! There's a memory he doesn't want for the rest of his life!
So while the clinic staff is removing all your body hair by laser, let them remove your moles, freckles, tattoos, varicose veins, scars and other marks that you have collected or earned growing up. You might as well start this new life with a new unscarred body, and he'll enjoy licking chocolate syrup and whip cream off it that much better! Oh the joys that await! Get your body cleaned up for your own pleasures sake!
Teeth cleaned
Get professional help! The earlier the better, Straighten and whiten professionally. This is a new start in your life, and every tooth should be shiny white. If you have no time and no money at least get a professional cleaning and then use a teeth-whitening kit yourself - it's better than nothing! And do I need to even say it... stop smoking and start brushing your teeth! You're a married woman now! Also, have a friend keep slipping you breath mints for your whole wedding day.
Gloves
No Gloves, not an option for anyone on this day, of all days. This is a ring day! Hello, wake-up! Of course a wedding company will try to push gloves on you and every model in the world wears gloves because those are photo props. You can't wear gloves on your wedding day period. Just say no! Gloves only get in the way and make the whole audience of friends and family wait impatiently, while you try to pull them on and off, for the ring exchange and then after the ceremony everyone will want to see your ring, which means more on and off pulling - Gloves are a nightmare! If you have to have long sleeves or long gloves then choose the fingerless ones that have one strap over the middle finger. Use this option if you must have gloves otherwise stay away from them, they are more than useless, they are a total pain for everyone, except the wedding companies who get to charge couples for the lost gloves.
Fake nails!...
Another "Don't even think about it" accessory. They only cause you problems. You are guaranteed to loose at least one during the ceremony and it will look so bad, like you just cut off a tip of a finger or something. Everyone will notice and pretend they don't. Also fake nails are completely non-classy, think ballerina verses prostitute - you know which one has the fake nails, case closed.
Naturally manicured nails for every bride is the best choice, with no color, just shined bright and clean ready for... real living like - Stuffing wedding cake into your groom's mouth, holding hands and shaking hands with excited friend's at your party!
Brides Ring
The best choice is not a giant diamond; the best choice is a comfortable, very light, thin platinum ring with an inlaid diamond on top, which is flush with the ring. It still marks you as "off the market" to all men, but more importantly you'll never need to take it off -- It will never snag on a sweater or scratch your newborn baby. Very classy and very usable -- Again think which ring would a ballerina or a prostitute wear? Stick with the classy pure look on your wedding day, and for the rest of your life if your husband is lucky. Simply stay out of the "my diamond is bigger than your diamond" game. You'll probably have to explain it to him, and show him how a yellow gold band turns the diamond yellowish, thus a platinum band is best and his money is now your money so lets invest it together in mutual fund stocks at 14% instead of buying a huge rock that in a few years will be worthless because they now can "grow" perfect diamonds for almost nothing. You just want a ring to show the world that your married not a paperweight that someone will be tempted to cut off you when you go traveling.
Have the groom practice sliding your small perfect ring onto your finger at the shoulder level, slowly for all the cameras. It's a great wedding shot! Make sure you look happy! If your ring is a little snug going over your knuckle bone, then make sure you have a friend put a dab of Vaseline on your knuckle before you walk down the aisle, so that it slips on beautifully.
Brides Shoes
Your wedding shoes must be white and very comfortable. Don't start your new life as an invalid because of a pair of bad shoes. From now on, from this day forward you should never again handicap yourself in anyway! You must be able to run and to dance and be a blessing to your man from this day forward. If he wants to climb on top of the house, you should be able to join him in whatever pair of shoes you're wearing!
No more high heels for you, or platform shoes or other shoes that handicap you just like the Chinese ladies of old with crippled bound up feet, to attract men. Well you're married now, so you can stop attracting men with crippled feet and you can start running and jumping with your husband from this day forward! So go find the most comfortable white shoes imaginable to start your new life! I love the "Echo" shoe store for comfortable quality shoes but you can find many good brands out their that have classy beautiful shoes that are NOT high heals.
Again think Ballerina shoes vs. a Prostitute's -- you're not for sale anymore! Throw away all those high heels and put on your running and dancing shoes! Your life just got better! Some ladies don't figure this out until they're 80 years old! Then it's to late to start running in the fields! --And making love in the grass - or on the roof!
Stockings and under garments
White, white and more white! This isn't your honeymoon. You must wear full white stocking tights, like a ballerina would wear. Any color other than white will show through your dress and ruin the moment, this goes for all your under garments keep them white and covered.
Change of Clothes
You need two completely new sets of clothes after the ceremony. Be prepared for the worst and you can relax throughout your day. Remember the dress is rented, so if it gets spilled on, puked on, ripped or catches on fire its no big deal. You have two other party dresses (not wedding dresses) that are hanging up in your changing room just for that reason, be sure to include a towel, wipes, make-up, underclothes... everything.
One of your new outfits should be all white, from a sundress to a formal gown -- whatever you like for the party and the other can be any color you like for a fun wedding party. Simple things that you can role up in a bag and have ready for an emergency.
When something happens, not if, but when something happens keep your composer, laugh it off and reassure your friends that this is a rental dress so they don't freak out -- Then be back in 5 minutes with a new dress on! Be prepared! -- You are ready!

Wedding Flowers - Five Wedding Flower Questions Answered by Stephen Badiali

Wedding Flowers - Five Wedding Flower Questions Answered by Stephen Badiali
Wedding flowers can be a very important part of your big day. Just like any aspect of your wedding, however, it can be overwhelming when you first start thinking about flowers for your wedding.
To help you sort through the details, listed below are answers to five common questions about wedding flowers.
What Is My Budget?
As with any aspect of your wedding, try to set a budget for your wedding flowers. Flowers can cost several hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars.
You don't have to spend a lot of money to have beautiful flowers at your wedding, however the bigger you budget is the more options you will have for the type and amount of flowers for your event.
Use the questions below to help determine the amount of flowers that you will need. At that point you can start estimating what the budget will be.
Hire a Florist or Do It Yourself?
If you are very hands on with a limited budget, you might want to consider doing your own flower arrangements. One thing to keep in mind is don't underestimate the amount of time it will take to choose your flowers, vases, arrangements and to put everything together.
On the other hand, if you have a bigger budget to devote to wedding flowers with limited time you should consider hiring a florist. They can provide expert guidance for selecting colors, matching flowers to the style of your wedding and arranging your centerpieces.
A good florist should also be able to tell you what flowers are in season which could result in savings. Ask for referrals from friends and family, or look online for Florists in your area.
What Flowers Do I Need?
Typically you should plan on having a bouquet for the bride along with one for each bridesmaid. The groom and each of the groomsmen should get a boutonniere as well.
Corsages and boutonnieres for the parents, flower petals for the flower girl, a boutonniere for the ring bearer and flowers for other special guests should also be considered.
Depending on your ceremony location, flowers might be a good option for decorations, and most centerpiece options for the wedding reception contain at least some if not all flowers.
What Flowers Should I Choose?
If you are using a florist, start by bouncing ideas off of them. They do this all the time, so they will be able to give you great ideas for flower color and style.
Matching flower color with the colors of your wedding is a good way to narrow down your choices. For example, if your bridesmaids will be wearing red you will have many options including roses and gerbera daisies.
Another idea is to pick flowers of the season you are getting married. Tulips for spring, sunflowers for fall, daisies for summer and poinsettia or evergreen for winter are a few examples.

Henna Tattoos--no Pain, Just Stain by Sandra Wilson

Henna Tattoos--no Pain, Just Stain by Sandra Wilson
Madonna, Sting, and Demi Moore have recently "discovered" what Hindu brides have known for centuries: henna paste decorates the body with temporary tattoos. Usually applied to the hands and feet, the body becomes a canvas for patterns of scrolls, vines, or flowers that last for a few weeks.
Henna paste, or mendhi, takes from a few minutes to a few hours to apply depending upon the bodily location and the desired detail of the design. After the drawing with cones or syringes is finished, the paste dries to allow the color to become absorbed by the skin. While this takes only 10-15 minutes, the paste should be left on the skin for another 6 hours to achieve the most lasting affect. A sugar and lemon mixture dabbed on the dried mendhi deepens the final color. When fully dry, the crust falls off on its own. Gentle toweling removes any last bits. The tattoo lasts longer with moisture but gradually lightens through natural exfoliation of the skin. Harsh soaps, chlorine and commercial exfoliation speeds the fading of the design.
Celebrations, such as childbirth and birthdays, may include mehndi, but it is Indian brides who traditionally display the most elaborate designs covering their feet and hands. Applying the paste is a celebratory pre-wedding ritual to bring love and good fortune to the couple but it has neither religious nor sacred meaning. Occasionally brides choose to mendhi much of their body and include the name of their groom amongst the designs. It is his right and duty to carefully search for it on the wedding night.
In the Middle East, mendhi days are spent getting to know women of the family as the designs are applied. Females gather to adorn skin with the more casual floral patterns inspired by Arabic art. It is a woman's day to put away household responsibilities and share a joyful activity with others of her gender.
Leaves are ground into a paste and may be mixed with other ingredients such as oil or tea. The resulting mash remains dark green or black even though the stain is consistently reddish brown. Recipes for henna mixtures are well-guarded family secrets for good reasons. Women want their family members to have a deep, rich tattoo as tradition proclaims the bride doesn't do housework as long as her design can be seen. In addition, how much your mother-in-law will love you correlates with the length of time the mendhi remains.
The paste that has adorned so many women comes from Lawsonia inermis, a small tree that grows in areas where the minimum temperature is usually greater than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Lawsonia inermis is a thorny tree that needs about five years to mature and produce leaves with useful levels of tannin. It grows better in arid than in wet regions and tolerates extreme heat and long droughts. Its origins as a tattoo paste can be traced to areas of Northern Africa, the Middle East and India. Blossoms of the same tree have been used in perfumes since 1500 BCE.
The use of this abundant plant began in earnest when the desert people of India discovered its "cooling" properties. By dipping their hands and feet into the mud or paste made from the crushed leaves, they were able to keep their body temperatures low as long as some color remained. In the arid heat of their desert environment, this was indeed a fortuitous discovery! From this general application came more specific ones. Women found that a large central dot in the palm cooled as well as staining the entire hand or foot. This rudimentary design was embellished with dots around the center which evolved into the use of increasingly pleasing designs.
In addition to being used to apply temporary tattoos, henna has been used to color wool, silk, animal skins and men's beards. Mummies dating to 1200 B.C. show evidence of henna use on hair and nails of pharaohs. Today the deep-colored paste is used by women to give luster to their hair as well as hide the grey.
When an Indian woman asks her husband if he has mendhi on his hands, it doesn't mean she really thinks he is decorated with reddish-brown body art below his wrists. She is referring to her bridal days when she wasn't expected to work while the mendhi could still be seen and is asking if this is also HIS reason for laziness.

wedding photography tips by Dmitri

wedding photography tips by Dmitri
Having gone to so many weddings, there are many tips that photographers learn. It is good to ask your photographer for advice on many things. We have tons of ideas that can make it much more interesting and much better for the pictures. I suggested once that a bride make a scrap book of all her pictures with a scrapbook that has no plastic. Then pass it around the reception for the guests to make brief tips and tricks to make the marriage work, or even a quick cute story about the bride or groom. Then you bring that book with you to the honeymoon, and when there are quiet time you read it together. They appreciated this idea and will cherish it forever. Another thing you can do is have the photographer print up business cards or postcards with your image on it. Then when your friends and family want to view your wedding pictures, then they can find the website and information for ordering from the photographer. There are many other ideas that will be very helpful if you ask your photographer for advice.
Find a photographer who will walk and talk you through positions and actions that will achieve romantic images. Candid shots are wonderful, but the bride and groom's active involvement in many of the pictures will produce elegant and romantic portraits. The bride and groom's enthusiastic and active participation is the only thing that will ensure great portraits.
Sparklers are incredible for the get-a-way at the end of the night. Be sure to have PLENTY of lighters. The neat little match books are great mementos, but are horrible for lighting the sparklers. By being able to allow everybody to light theirs at the same time, you will help ensure a wonderful photo as you make your exit.
Brides: Don't be afraid to laugh when the cameras are around. Memories will be enchanting when our cameras can capture your joy and emotions. Make your pictures reflect real life...its much more exciting!
When choosing a photographer it is important to do three things. Of course you should look at hard copy examples of their work and seek recommendations from former clients but at least once during your consultation, I think it is important to laugh with your photographer. Sounds strange but if you can't find something on common ground to laugh about at an informal meeting, then it will be terribly difficult on your wedding day when things can be much more tense to be at ease with your photographer. I find that if I can make my clients laugh, I get much more interesting and inviting pictures."
For Brides: Select a professional photographer that you connect with. During your interview if you feel comfortable talking with them and your personalities mesh, hire them. If makes the day that much more enjoyable when you and your photographer have fun...and it will show in your photos. A pre-wedding photo shoot is also a great way to get to know each other."
Make sure that photographers whom you meet with will: 1) be the one who actually shows up at your wedding; 2) show you real work (their own) from real weddings; 3) have experience photographing weddings (five does not count); 4) you like the person well enough to be around them for 8-10 hours. Remember, you get what you pay for and it will show. Are they really in business, or is this just a weekend hobby? Do they have insurance, backup equipment, wear jeans or a suit. etc.? These are the real questions. Film or digital, each has it's merits, but it's just a tool. Photography is a visual product. You've got to like the images and the photographer first, price has to come second. It can be no other way. Remember, you get what (and who) you pay for and it will show. "
Stay hydrated throughout your day to maintain that "glow" all day long! Keep powder and lip gloss close by for quick makeup touches. And FORGET about the camera and have fun! We'll take care of the rest!"
Communicate often with your photographer before the wedding day. Make sure that your photographer understands the photos that are the most important to you and your family. It is helpful to write out a family tree for your photographer so they will know who the important family members are and who they should focus on when taking pictures throughout the day.
If your budget allows it is a good idea to do a photo session with your selected wedding photographer. You wouldn't buy a car without a test drive...once you find the right person, make sure they measure up!
Bright or deep colored flowers really make an impact against a white or ivory gown. Spot color techniques used on B&W photos to make the flowers stand out look awesome.
My advice to couples would be to budget in an appropriate amount of time for photos, while considering the time of day and the light. The type and quality of light (preferably natural, available light) can make a good photo, fantastic. It is your wedding day, and these photos will be viewed for a lifetime. A little preplanning will go a long way for when it comes to your photographic memories.

Women And Their Various Hats by MaryLu

Women And Their Various Hats by MaryLu
For some women, the hat is the finishing touch of an outfit. Hats can come in all shapes and sizes so that women can really have whatever she wants. Today's hat market has a never-ending supply of selections with every occasion accounted for. Some of the most common occasions for hat wearing are as follows:
Kentucky Derby
Hats appear at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby in a never-ending array. In some cases, it's just as exciting to see the hats as it is to see the horses, or nearly so. Even if you can't afford to go to the Kentucky Derby yourself, you can still host your own Kentucky Derby party and have all of your friends compete to see who has the best hat for the day. At Churchill Downs, a few winners have boasted such things as plastic horses on the brim, boa brims and feather bases, or a collection of fresh flowers.
Church
It is not uncommon to wear a hat to a religious service, although it used to be much more common. For some people, wearing a hat to church is part of a deep-seated tradition and in some cases has significance in various religious communities. Some women, in fact, have hundreds of hats just to wear to church, and may even have them stored in their own special place.
Easter
The Easter bonnet is not just the catchphrase of a popular song from years past. Instead, many women purchase them especially for their church services or for the local Easter Parade. When you choose the right Easter hat, you have many colors to consider. Pink, yellow, lavender or light blue are some of the more common ones. You can also choose to add colored blooms for decoration. Some women may even decide to adorn their hats with the extra Easter eggs they have from other Easter pursuits.
Wedding Reception
Many women wear hats to wedding receptions, especially if they take place outdoors. Warm weather and sunshine, as well as rainy weather, can cause problems for folks outdoors. However, for someone wearing a hat, they can be protected from burning rays or at least protect their hairdos from slight drizzle. Brides, too, sometimes wear hats to top off their wedding attire, such as a hat that has a wedding veil trailing from atop the hat and draped behind.
Sunbathing in Style
If you are on the beach with friends or are just lying in the sun, a hat can help keep the sun out of your face and protect you from its dangers. However, you can also make a fashion statement. Find a perfect match for your bikini or one piece in no time, with a variety of brilliant colors to choose from.
Tea Time
If you're someone who likes to attend tea parties, you might know that it's one opportunity for a woman to showcase her latest addition to her hat collection. You can also plan a party for close friends and have guests come dressed to the hilt, literally, topped off with their favorite hat. If you like, have them bring a treat for the event, such as cookies, muffins, or their favorite pie.

Jim Shore, Wildflower, and Kitchen Fairy Figurines Add Whimsy to Home Decor by Chris Robertson

Jim Shore, Wildflower, and Kitchen Fairy Figurines Add Whimsy to Home Decor by Chris Robertson
Although each person has a different sense of style when it comes to home decorating, everyone wants a home that feels comfortable and inviting. To that end, an increasing number of people are collecting and displaying figurines that bring a touch of whimsy to the home and smiles to the faces of family members and visitors alike. Three of the most popular collectible figurines are those from Jim Shore, DEMDACO, and My Little Kitchen Fairy. Jim Shore Figurines Originally from South Carolina, Jim Shore is an award-winning artist whose figurines can best be categorized as a cross between American folk art and popular culture. Made of stone resin, Jim Shore's figurines encompass themes ranging from his Heartwood Creek collection of angels and his faith-based angels to his collectible Disney figurines. Many of his Disney figurines have patriotic Americana themes, such as "Justice for All," which depicts Mickey Mouse waving a flag in front of the Statue of Liberty, and "Protect & Serve," which depicts Mickey Mouse as a police officer. Jim Shore has also designed a variety of Christmas ornaments, ranging from "12 Days of Christmas" ornaments and reindeer ornaments to farm animal ornaments. He has also made nativity set and Santa figurines. DEMDACO Figurines DEMDACO offers many collections of figurines, but one of the most popular is the Wildflower Angel collection. Each figurine in this collection depicts an angel holding a wildflower. Given the meanings associated with different types of flowers, each Wildflower Angel conveys its own message. A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary by Melissa Peterman

A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary by Melissa Peterman
A Diamond Pendant for Your Wedding Anniversary
It's another Wednesday in July. It was a sunny morning, the paper boy delivered the Wednesday paper, you fed the cat and checked your email. Something was definitely different. The paper is on the kitchen counter for you, instead of the front porch. There are ads like usual from the paper, but they are neatly laid next to your breakfast. Your wife made you coffee, bought you special doughnuts from you're favorite doughnut shop on the corner, your new shirt was ironed and hung on the door of the bathroom and your wife even polished your wedding band for you. Whoa! You stop yourself short, why did she polish your wedding band today? What is today? You look at the Wednesday paper, it's the 24th of July, what date is that you think... Oh it's your wedding day! And those ads are not for a lube oil filter- it's for jewelry! A gold diamond journey pendant, a silver journey pendantand a circle diamond pendant on sale. No wonder your wife has been going out of her way to make your day so special, it's your five year wedding anniversary and she left you a huge hint.
What are you going to do? You haven't ordered flowers, bought her anything special or even a card. How do you think you might let her know that you love her and that you would do anything for her and that you didn't forget? You decide that it's not too late to get her something special.
You leave the house after wishing your wife a happy anniversary and tell her to have a great day and not to plan anything for the evening! You leave work early and drive to your local jewelry store.
The woman behind the counter lets you know about the latest designs that are available in the styles you are looking for. You tell her you are looking for a diamond journey pendant, a gold journey pendant or a small diamond pendant for your wife for your five year wedding anniversary. The woman behind the counter is wearing a name tag that says, Gloria, "Specializing in Anniversaries." Perfect, you think. Gloria says, "If you are looking for a diamond pendant for your five year anniversary, let me suggest the diamond journey pendant, with five diamonds increasing in size, making an "S" shape, representing the five years you have been together and with each diamond increasing in size, so too does your love for her."
The necklace was very beautiful and it was true, you did love her more and more as the years went by. What about the other necklaces? You ask Gloria about the diamond pendant on display. "This is a lovely diamond pendant with five half carat diamonds set in a gold in the shape of a heart is a lovely choice," Gloria said. "She will feel like she is walking the red carpet- don't you think?" It was gorgeous. You think about tonight and what your wife will say when she opens the small velvety box with the necklace inside. You decide that she would like the journey pendant. Choosing either the silver or gold diamond journey pendant was a tough decision. She wore more silver than gold, but you liked the value that gold represents. You decide to get the gold diamond journey pendant. Gloria thought it was a great choice as she placed it in a black velvety box and wrapped it in a red box with a silver bow. That evening at dinner, after you have already had your steak and lobster at your wife's favorite restaurant, a waiter comes over to ask you for your dessert selections. When he returns with your chocolate dipped strawberries, three waiters arrive, one with champagne, one with the chocolate covered strawberries and one delivering the red-wrapped velvety box with the gold diamond journey pendant. Your wife was so surprised! The look on her face was unforgettable. Sure she was surprised but possibly even more so that you didn't forget your five year wedding anniversary. You help fasten the necklace around her neck, "This gold diamond journey necklace looks familiar," she says as she smiles, "I love it."

Vera Wang Princess by Roman Franczak

Vera Wang Princess by Roman Franczak
Vera Wang Princess
Here is the copy of the e-mail I received from one of my customer. His name is Desmond Kavasan and lives in Ohio.
I would like to share a personal experience that occurred while shopping for the perfect anniversary present for my young and beautiful wife. We had some financial difficulties at the time, so my lovely wife told me not to buy anything too expensive. However, that is easier said than done. Flowers would have been affordable but everyone buys flowers. I couldn't afford a diamond ring but I still wanted to buy her something special. Someone suggested that I buy her perfume. Perfume was a great idea but how would I know which perfume was right for her and where would I go to shop for it? I wasn't sure where to begin. I obviously didn't want to buy her the same perfume she always wears because I wanted to buy her something original.
I got the idea to go online to see if I could find a perfect perfume. This introduced it's own problems. There were too many websites with too many items to choose from, none of which offered any guidance or advice. Finally, I stumbled upon a website that looked great, called Fragrance Place, located at www.fragranceplace.com. It seemed easy to use. What got my attention was a page with the title "New Releases". This is what I exactly needed- a site that allowed me to look throughout new perfumes and find the right one for my wife. All the new releases were posted on one page and if I clicked on an image I could go to product page and read details about each perfume. What got my attention was perfume called "PRINCESS" by designer Vera Wang. It seemed special because Princess my wife's nickname. The bottle was beautiful and description sounded right. The description said that Princess was launched by the designer in 2006. It has floral and fruity notes and is the right choice for by playful, unpredictable and independent young women who treat every day as an adventure. The description sounded exactly like my adorable wife. Princess is light, clean and fresh with subtly sweet hints of chocolate (my wife loves chocolate), vanilla and musk. It is not too heavy or harsh. It is soft and delicious. I love the smell of vanilla and musk. It seemed like the right gift for both of us. And the price was right too! I ordered a bottle immediately to send to my wife.
When package arrived and my wife opened it she screamed with joy and happiness. She asked me how I knew that she was planning to try this fragrance and put on the perfume immediately. The website explained that the real scent of the perfume arises after it is applied and mixes with the wearer's body chemistry. Princess seemed to be a great match for my wife. What a perfect anniversary!
Here are some details about Princess (the perfume):
Princess was launched by Vera Wang in 2006 and is classified as a fruity, flowery scent with flirty blend of water lily, lady apple, mandarin meringue, golden apricot skin, ripe pink guava, Tahitian flower, wild tuberose, dark chocolate, pink frosting accord, precious amber, forbidden woods, royal musk captive, and chiffon vanilla.
Designer Vera Wang, well known also as a famous wedding dress designer, made her mark as a perfume designer earlier by introducing her "Vera Wang" perfume but "Princess" was the most rewarding. It won her the 2007 FiFi Award for "Fragrance of the Year". Princess comes in two sizes Eau De Toilette Spray 1.7 oz and Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 oz. Body Lotion and Body Cream are also available.
If you should happen to have the same problem finding the perfect gift, I highly suggest this perfume.
